Identifying Suspicious Incoming Mail

Look for the following indicators of a suspicious letter or package:

  • Badly typed or written and or misspelled words.
  • Possibly mailed from a foreign country.
  • Excessive postage.
  • Restrictive markings, or no return address.
  • Incorrect title of position or addressed to title of position only.
  • Oily stains, discolorations or crystallization on the package.
  • Strange odor.
  • Rigid, bulky or the use of excessive tape.
  • Lopsided or uneven.
