What You Can Do to Protect Yourself

If You Receive a Suspicious Letter or Package

  • STOP. Don’t handle the package.
  • Isolate it immediately.
  • Don’t open, smell or taste.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water.
  • Call the UAMS Control Center immediately at 686-5891.

If a Letter/Parcel Is Opened and/or a Threat Has Been Identified

For Radiological Hazards

  • STOP. DO NOT HANDLE. Limit your exposure.
  • Evacuate the area.
  • Shield yourself from the object.
  • Call the UAMS Control Center immediately at 686-5891.

For Biological or Chemical Hazards

  • Isolate – Do not handle.
  • Evacuate the immediate area.
  • Wash your hands with soap and warm water.
  • Call the UAMS Control Center immediately at 501-686-5891.
